| Education: Some high school Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.):: Clean Class 5 Alberta License Experience: No experience necessary Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English Work Setting Experience: Private contractor Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Specific Skills: Clean and maintain sidewalks, streets, roads and public grounds, Operate various equipment and machinery, Load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment, Collect and load refuse on garbage trucks, Assist equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment or truck, Assist in routine maintenance and repair of equipment Generic Skills: Problem-solving skills (ex., identify problem causes; determine steps to resolve; assess solution), Working with others (ex., work with individual or team; build consensus), Reading skills (ex., follow written directions; interpret documents like charts, maps; acquire specialized knowledge), Writing skills (ex., enter information on forms; write to inform, persuade, or analyze) Other Information: These jobs include both driving and laboring components (e.g. pressure washing, street cleaning and litter control). The majority of the shift is spent on your feet and includes heavy manual labor involving the use of hand tools (shovels and brooms). Duties are demanding and require individuals in fair physical condition requiring work in all types of weather and in extremely dusty conditions on or near traveled roadways. Must be safety conscious and attentive to their working environment. |
